Pack Art: Call for artists

Heirloom seeds and contemporary art, all in one pack.

Thanks for your interest in our unique seed packs. Every year we commission new artists to create covers for the packs of our heirloom varieties. The original works become part of our traveling Art of the Heirloom exhibition. If you are an artist interested in submitting work, our Call for Pack Artists goes out every March.

Our collectable packs have sought after seed packs, cherished gifts and popular favors and table setting at weddings, garden parties, and fundraising events. You can see the current Art Pack collection here. New artwork will be released in November 2012.

If you are interested in ordering seed packs for your event, email us and we'll talk to you about our discounts for larger orders.

Stay seedy!

Are you only accepting artwork from artists in New York State with a focus on the Hudson Valley and Capital District???
I live in Nashville, TN can I submit to this call for artists?

I hope I am eligible to participate :-)
    Best regards, Lisa Rivas

So sorry! To reflect and strengthen our commitment to being a regional seed company, and to limit the number of submissions we carefully review, we are only accepting submissions from artists who live somewhere in New York State. This is an expansion from last year when we only accepted submissions from the Hudson Valley and Metro NY. We're just not ready to expand the call for art nationally. I hope you will stay connected to us and continue to enjoy the Art Packs. If at some point in the future we feel we can handle more submissions, you'll hear about it through the blog. Thanks!

I am disappointed you only accept entries from NY State, I really wanted to enter, but am from NH...had designed something I was sure to be a winner but now cannot enter...hoping you will consider going for it in the future...it is a great idea to have artists do seed pack designs, and could only help your growth but understand if you are not ready...being from NH, I usually buy from more local sources but your company caught my eye because of the hand-done art. The idea of seed packet art as collectible is a really good idea...

To fine-tune your response above, I'm wondering if I qualify to submit artwork as I live in Stockbridge, MA in Berkshire County, thus very close to the Hudson Valley but not in NYS. I probably would not make your deadline for this year, but would like to work on designs for your next season. Thank you.

Thanks for all the interest! I didn't realize we had so many fans outside New York and the Northeast. We will consider art from artists living in areas related to the Hudson Valley but not in NY. This would include places close to the NY border including the western parts of MA and CT, southwest VT, and northern NJ. But that's as far out as we'll go this year! Thank you all for the comments, I am now seriously considering expanding the call for art for next year.
