Details

If you know and love Mizuna, you'll enjoy Mibuna, too. It is very similar, though its leaves are smooth-edged, slightly ovular, and grow in a denser, more upright bunch than do the leaves of Mizuna. It is exceptionally hardy and will make it through the winter under minimal protection. Delicious steamed or stir-fried, its thin ribs soften beautifully into a pile of mild, mustardy noodle-like strands.
Number of Seeds 200 seeds

Spacing Between Rows 18 to 24 inches
Planting Depth ¼ to ½ inch

Height at Maturity 12 to 18 inches
Width at Maturity 6 inches
Mibuna is usually ready for harvest in about six weeks. Sow under protection 4-6 weeks before last frost; transplant 3 weeks before last frost. Sow successively. Fall crops are most successful: sow July-August. Spring-sown crops must be harvested young to beat bolting; they also may need row cover to protect against flea beetle damage. All Asian mustards will overwinter with protection and give delicious greens through January, at least.
