Workshops and Events
One of the Seed Library's goals is to spread seed-saving skills to gardeners in the Northeast.
Please feel free to check out any of the talks or workshops listed below if you're interested in learning about the art and history of preserving heirloom seeds. Future events will be listed here, so be sure to check back! Examples of past events include "Seeds and Salsa: a Tasty Tomato, Pepper, and Cilantro Seed-Saving Workshop" at Phillies Bridge Farm in New Paltz, NY, tables at events such as the Family Farm Festival in High Falls, NY, and talks to garden clubs and food activist gatherings.
Eat Local and the 100 Mile Diet Challenge
The night will include a short animated movie, the history of the Challenge including inspirations from 2007, reasons for eating locally, conveniences for finding local foods and time for questions with seasoned locavores, newcomers, farmers and local foods businesses.

Saving Seeds and Their Stories
Ken Greene of the Hudson Valley Seed Library will share unique local heirloom stories and teach basic seed-saving skills for home gardeners. Ken will also discuss the history of seed-saving and the importance of preserving heirloom varieties in the light of current local and global food security concerns. There will be time for questions and discussion. Take-home materials will include resource lists, printed seed-saving instructions for a few common garden plants, and free locally grown seeds from the Seed Library.
